Apparently I was successful because I was told (by the kids) that I need to definitely tone down the spookiness next year.
It was just all scratched up from cats and kinda sad and frumpy looking..I was so excited about some of the affordable options I found in some really great pretty fabrics that I could get to replace this one.
I really wasn’t into spending $400 on a slipcover for an 8 year old sofa that we may just decide to replace any day now anyway.. That just didn’t quite work out.I had to give it up after a couple of weeks because it was just looking terrible. If you ask Chris about that time in our life he’ll tell you it was “The worst two weeks of my life.” That may be a little dramatic, but it still wasn’t working for us..
Somehow the fact that a new, crisp white slipcover from Ikea is only $100 had escaped me during all this time.I was under the impression that it was going to be hundreds of dollars.. Silly rabbit!.
Nothing spectacular, but it’s fresh and white and clean and didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Best of all, it’s the same old sofa we know and love and we get to love it for just a little longer now.. Of course, this is how it looks most of the time now:.We hadn’t even finished painting the cabinets or installing the hardware and now instead of a medium-sized project, it’s kind of on the giant side.. Oh.
The little nook next to the back door that used to be shelving like this:.Now looks like this:.
We took out the shelves, cut a hole in the wall, and installed a second door leading into the master bathroom so we can access it quickly from the deck.. Update:.The images above are the early stages of our back mudroom update which, after a. few changes.
